Andes virus (ANDV) is an enveloped negative-sense RNA virus belonging to the genus Orthohantavirus within the family Hantaviridae. Andes virus is one of the primary causative agents of hantavirus cardiopulmonary syndrome (HCPS) in South America and is unique among hantaviruses for its documented capability of human-to-human transmission.
The Andes virus glycoprotein precursor (GPC) is proteolytically cleaved into two envelope glycoproteins, Gn and Gc, which assemble into heteromeric spike complexes on the virion surface. The Gn head domain primarily mediates receptor attachment and immune recognition, whereas the Gc glycoprotein functions as a class II fusion protein responsible for membrane fusion during viral entry. The Gn/Gc complex represents a major target for neutralizing antibodies and vaccine development. Recombinant Andes Virus Glycoprotein Gn Head/Gc Complex is widely used in studies of viral entry, structural biology, antibody discovery, epitope mapping, serological assay development, and antiviral therapeutic research.
